NATTUK'S ENCOUNTER

Nattuk

Young Adam London Premiere:

Right! Here it is... I hope you guys like reading long stories because I'm no good at making things short. It probably won't make much sense because I drift off when I think about it LOLOL but nevermind.. Where to start? Well after spending the evening before madly trying to finish my Banner & sorting through things to take (pics/mags/Aeon poster/pad/pens etc etc.. I get up feeling pretty tired. Oh no! Can't go looking sleep-deprived near Ewan! So I dosed up on the caffiene lol & tried my best. Decided on wearing one of the CHAS shirts & my 'Ewan Jacket' (the one tht's been near him before lol), with just black trousers & trainers. Well, I was gonna wear shoes & try my luck at getting last minute tickets but that's not such a good idea when standing outside premiere's lol.

I'd planned on leaving at about 9 (the earliest I could to get a cheaper train ticket) & by myself But I still had things to sort in the morning so went 11ish instead with my mum lol. She'd never stood outside a London prem before... now she keeps talking about his eyes ). It turned out well actually - she snapped away while I was busy wth other things LOL & it was nice that she was there to see him Yeah so we left at about 11am. I thought maybe this wasn't early enough actually because the one other London prem I went to (not Ewan) started to get crowded from 12 & it was just after then that we arrived for YA. 12:30 I think. Once I got to L Square I went & looked at the Warner Village Cinema. It doesn't really look all that special, and is a lot smaller than the Odeon, the other side of the square.. I'd. Ewan didn't even have a whole billbard can you believe? Anyway then I'm thinking where is everyone?? It was due to start at 5ish (but they're always late aren't they) & absolutely NO-ONE was about! You would never think there was a premiere going on that night! Went & had a cup of tea at the Cafe opposite, still keeping an eye out for anyone.. then stood back outside the cinema for a few mins.

I'd gone in to ask about tickets but of course no-one could help me. The next thing was which entrance where they gonna use?? That may seem like a stupid question but I've seen before that they've used the side entrance.. Asked a few people, no-one knew.. Then I saw someone who looked like he'd know & he said the front. Well a few mins later this big guy in a red shirt comes up to me & asks if I'm there for the Premiere. He then tells me that he'd been told once before they'd use the front entrance when in fact they sneaked people through the side! We needn't have worried but kept looking around both to check.. In the meantime I'm looking through my stuff & realise I left my black Sharpie pen at home! How stupid is that??! I'd packed every other colour lol, selotape, scisors, glue... wire coat hangers (LOLOL to attatch to my banner -Ewan I'm your no.1 fan, please talk to me - so it'd hang from the railings). Well I'd decided I wanted black so went wandering around trying to find a stationers nearby lol. Except there weren't any.. I ended up just going to Borders in Oxford St then kinda rushing back to the Square. Looked at my watch - 2:30pm and STILL no-one around, except that guy who arrived about now.

The next hour or so went fairly quickly really & 2/3 other people showed up, including a few press guys. It's unbvelieveable, but by the time 3:30/4:30 came & they'd started taking stuff in to the cinema there was still no more than 6-8 of us waiting lol. Then the scaffolding truck moved & they started taking it down & setting up. This meant we had first choice of where to stand.. we could literally stand anywhere because there was so much space! Of course none of us could make a decision like that so we spoke to the man with the map layout LOL & he told us where the press was going to be, whereabouts Ewan was driving in from & from what direction etc. So it was between 2 places really - straight opposite the entrance on the far side or just before that, the other side & to the right of the entrance. In the end we decided on standing opposite the entrance.. because I wanted to be near the press LOL to be in with a chance of being in any photos Such an attention seeker I know haha. BTW when I say "we" I mean me, a girl called Helen, Judit (from Hungary(Sp?)) & Lila. They are all in the 2nd & 3rd photo's I posted btw. Judit is in red, next to me, and then it's Lila with the blonde hair & Helen with the dark hair. We spent the next hour or so just chatting & trying to decide if we should stay where we were or move somewhere nearer where they were due to get out the cars. My mum, who'd been sitting nearby the past few hours (bad back, that's Ewan dedication for you lol) then joined us & by this time more people had arrived. We couldn't believe it when some little kiddies turned up & decided to chant "Young Adam! Da Da Da!" over & over & over. I mean, that just seemed wrong.. it's not like they'd be seeing the film anytime soon! But then we realised they were either there for the Star Wars connection or because their mum's had dragged them along haha..

Next I tried to decide what to get signed! OMG I still hadn't decided 5 mins before Ewan got there lol. Everyone was saying different things - get the poster signed, get the mag signed etc etc. In the end I went for the pad, so I could frame it with anything.. Did think about the poster but it was a bit tricky. And not one I wanted to get spoiled by accidentally getting squashed or whatever, so I left that (because a big crowd had now gathered.. mostley made up out of passers-by who noticed there was some premiere going on..). Of course by this time I had attatched my banner to the 2 coat hangers & it was sitting nicely on the railings/YA posters. Got some funny looks for that haha. And it was funny watching every single person walk past & read it out loud to themselves lol. Finally they closed off the area to pedestrians & the first few guests began to arrive Can't say I recognised any of them, although there were aparently a few sort-of famous people. We only cared about Ewan though y'see. Every time a car pulled up at the end I was like "there's a car! I don't know who it is.." lol. Must've seen so many silver cars with blacked-out windows that night. A few mins later Tilda Swinton arrived. She was signing autographs as she went along.

Everyone was going "Who's she??" So I kept saying "it's Tilda Swinton. She's in the film with Ewan - look" [and pointed towards the names on the poster]. I thought I'd try and get her autograph seeing as I had Peter & Emily's. She got fairly near so I shouted out her name along with a few others & she came towards us. Now no offense, but on the screen she doesn't come across as that attractive BUT in person she is. Lovely skin. And such a nice person! She was signing for a person nearby who had a pic of YA from the newspaper "Oh you have a little picture! I'll sign it across like a japanese.." [forget what else she said lol]. Then I asked if she'd mind signing my pad for me, addressed "to Natalie." She asked how it's spelled - if it had a "h" (like the french way). So I said "no, it's n a t a l i e" and she signed it. Not that you'd think from looking at it that it's her autograph LOL you'll see what I mean when I scan it in. I swear no-one believed me when I told them who she was because of this lol.

Thinking back I should've mentioned that I'd seen YA while she was there. Anyway well ust a few mins before I'd taken a few pics.. fine.. but then my camera battery starts flashing 'low'!!!! OMG!!!!!! NO!! Luckilly my mum had brought her camera too so I swapped with her. Mine was still working, but we had to make sure it was only switched on when we really needed it. Actually I think there never was a problem, and it was just flashing red because it was warming up. That's nerves for you LOLOL I always think the worst. Hope that's the case anyway! So after Tilda signs my pad & I take a pic I try to take a better one but this time the other camera won't work! I think she was just too close but I was left looking like such an idoit haha. But like I said, Tilda was very nice. She waited until I managed to take a pic then asked if I wanted to take another. I was like "uhhh yeah, yes please" & she was so funny lol. She picked up a Ewan mag I had with me & said "take a pic of me with this!" LOL & held it up. Who else.. well you know Emily Mortimer was there but I didn't really see her arrive, just saw her go in (she probably arrived while everyone's attention was on Ewan lol). Didn't notice the director either. So unobservant

OKAAAY are you ready for the Ewan part?? It got to about 6:45 & one of the security people told us there would be just 10 mins until Ewan would arrive! OMG! What a long 10 minutes! It was prety cold now & I was shivering (half with nerves though I'm sure). I'd decided to not put my coat on you see because it would cover up my CHAS shirt lol. Judit seemed to be shaking the most though bless her. She asked my opinion on whether I thought she should ask for a hug or not & of course I said to go for it! I'd thought about asking the same thing, but decided if given the choice between hug or photo taken with Ewan I'd choose the photo. And anyway it turns out I kinda did both lol. The hours of waiting paid off It's funny, when he first arrived I was the first to shout out really loud it was him, although I was quite a way away.. then suddenly everyone started lol. EWAN! EWAN!! EWWAANN!! hehe I do kinda feel sorry for him having everyone shout at him like that. But he's said he doesn't have a problem with people outside the premieres, and likes attention, so.. I just watched as he went along signing, posing for pics etc. Of course he seemed to take FOREVER getting nearer to us. At one point I was like "where's he gone??" LOL because he was on the side I was standing at, but very far away out of sight. Then he went to the other side, signing for those kids, crouching down when one person asked him to sign one of the YA card posters attatched to the railings.

Wow.. he was getting nearer! I started to take some pics. Eve hadn't stayed standing with Ewan. Instead she walked down to the end, near where I was, by the press. She waited there with a couple of other people ready for when Ewan finished signing to pose for photos. I called out to Eve & after a couple of times she turned her head to look, but she wouldn't come over. Well it was worth a try. I think he must've been a good 1/2 hr at least before reaching our end of the crowd. I couldn't believe it then, when it looked like he was gonna go in the first door & miss us out completely! How could he do that when he needed to get to the press? Well this blonde-haired woman (we've seen her before, is it his PA? can't remember) tried to take his arm & get him to hurry up!!! BUT I was screaming louder & LOUDER for Ewan, & he came over Ahhhh... Now I think actually he DID see my banner when he looked over our way. [They showed a clip on tv Friday morning & this was the bit they showed - him walking over to us] I've re-watched it a few times LOL & yeah, I think he saw it. Probably didn't read the whole thing, but acknowledged that there were some desperate fans with a banner hahaha. As he was walking over that woman was STILL trying to get him to move along! God!! Well thankfully Ewan ignored her & signed my pad first! I asked him if he could sign it "to Natalie" but I think he was on autopilot & didn't hear.. Now I can't remember if Judit asked for her hug before or after I asked to have my pic taken with him. "A hug? Yeah I can do one of those" Anyway I kinda joined in on that lol. Suprised I wasn't had a go at by security When he heard me asking to have a pic taken with him he looked up & I must've just had the most desperate look on my face! "Ewan can I have a my photo taken with you!? Plleeaassee??" I thought maybe because I'd just been touching his arm while he was signing for someone else (which of course security didn't like) it wouldn't happen but yay! I wish my brain took in what he said to me but I was focusing on the fact that he was there right in front of me! lol.

I THINK it was "Yeah okay.." then I grabbed him with my left arm hahaha and made him turn to the right, ready for Helen to take the pic. a second or so later he continued with "who's taking it?" & was was a mad woman LOLOL - "Helen. Helen's taking it - over there". Not that he'd know who she was LOLOL. Hope it turned out, she might not've been quick enough (he turned his head y'see & was about to sign other people's stuff but of course I didn't want to give Ewan up hahaha, at least until I was sure the pic had been taken). I THINK he turned back to the camera then & Helen took a pic, so maybe he was looking at the camera or maybe not. Either way how can I not be happy that I've not just spoken to Ewan but had my arm around him for a good 8 seconds ?? I have this lucky bracelet now which I bought on the day, on THAT arm. Now I'll always be saying "this bracelet has touched Ewan McGregor!" I guess a plus in me not wearing my coat is that more of me touched Ewan hahaha. Hmm.. I remember thinking his suite/jacket was very thick lol. Sooo a total of 8 hrs waiting for about a minute of Ewan. Boy was it worth it though!! After signing a couple more he went to the press to have pics taken with Eve etc. Tried to take some pics.. will see what they're like. After they went inside we were all about to go, but one of the guys 'in the know' told us Ewan wasn't actually staying to watch the film, just to have press pics taken etc inside. Soo everyone went back to where they were standing & waited for more! About 1/2 hr that took. 3 silver cars had driven up right in front (not by themsleves, they had drivers LOL) & waited also. Emily Mortimer & the rest came out first. Ewan was last. He got in the front car. As he walked to the car I shouted "THANK YOU EWAN! WE LOVE YOU!" LOL not sure if he heard or not but I couldn't actually remember if I'd thanked him for the photo or not earlier. Oops lol.

Everyone around thought I was very funny - I did most of the screaming that night lol. One guy behind said something like "go on girl, give it some" lol & most people found it very amusing. That's basically everything. Except the best thing - one guy who was standing nearby (a friend of one of the girls I got chatting to I think) came up & told me he had told me he had me & Ewan on his digital video camera & showed me. Then said he could put it on vid & send to me if I liked! WOW! I couldn't believe it! So even if my pics don't turn out I will have that You can see him & his camera in one of those pics.. Anyway he'd been filming the thing while everyone else was screaming for autographs That was so nice of him to come up & tell me!! As far as I know he didn't speak to any of the other people standing nearby but hey, I was the craziest fan there lolol. I can't wait to see this again!!! On the night I was just so excited about the fact he had recorded it I didn't pay too much attention to the screen lol. Too busy asking about a copy How lucky that I was right near him! So I've finally spoken to Ewan! May not have been for long & I know there were a lot of other people there but still.. I am a very happy person! I've already taken one set of photo's in (only 1/2 of the film is the prem though) & they will be ready for collecting tomorrow The other film I still have some left on though & I'm trying to decide whether to use that up beg. of Oct, or just lose the few left & take them in now. I'm getting them all developed slightly bigger size than normal. The pic of me & Ewan I won't get from this girl until the end of Sep/Beg. of Oct.

I'm so grateful for her taking it that I could hardly say I'd like it earlier lol. I don't think I missed anything.. Everyone then just said bye & I got the scissors out & cut the ties from the poster to the railings, and dreagged the giant card things 'round the Underground lol. Went & got a cup of tea at the station, except I was still such a bag of nerves & overexcited I dropped it LOL (well, the paper bag kinda ripped) & it went all over the floor. Oh well - didn't go near the poster or anything.. At about 9:50 we caught the train back to little old Leighton Buzzard (where I live). I've seen myself on 2 telly progs so far - RI:SE from Friday morn - that's the one I was talking about, where Ewan walks towards us, and (I haven't seen it yet but a friend taped it & said it showed me) & MTV News from Friday night. Ugh but I'm a little angry with myself for forgetting Sky News! I was out watching DWL & totally forgot It's strange - I was sure 'Liquid News' would show something because they always show the London premieres.. but they didn't. I'm still keeping a look out for next week though Right... Bye for now.
