About the Site

This site was first opened in June of 2001, coinciding with the theatrical release of Moulin Rouge. The most difficult part for me was coming up with a name for the site that fit Ewan and wasn't already taken by other fansites. I came up with several, but most of them just wouldn't work. After struggling for some time, I stopped looking for things in Ewan's name or movies for a title and went to Ewan himself. What was Ewan to me? He was handsome, bold, outrageous, witty, he would do or say anything. Ewan is very different from other actors out there today. He is refreshingly outspoken and is wonderfully candid in his interviews. Here is a guy who doesn't have a problem with taking his clothes off in front of the masses, but in fact, loves to do so claming 'there's a sort of power in being naked on stage.'

So that's when I began to say hmm...outrageous...will do anything.. eccentric?.....Eccentricity! Which in itself means originality, irregularity, aka *something that does not follow the "norm"* and I knew I had my title. That my friends is how the madness began.....

In January 2003 and again in March of 2003, I had the great pleasure of meeting Ewan himself when he visited Alabama to film Big Fish. He was every bit what I imaged he would be. He was kind and courteous in allowing my boyfriend and myself to take a lot of pictures and took time out of his busy day to stop and say hello. In March of the same year, I visited Alabama again along with Claude bestofewan.com.

We were lucky enough to be invited by Ewan to join him during filming of the baseball/football scenes. Again, Ewan took the time during a break to come over and chat with us, sign autographs, and thank us for coming. He also graciously took home several montages from the site that I had printed out for him.

These two wonderful encounters simply reaffirmed my reasons for doing this website in the first place. He truly is a wonderful man. God bless you Ewan. You made my dreams come true.......For that I will always be grateful.

I'm 40 going on 17 year old mother from Australia with two boys that keep me on my feet. I got blindsided by Ewan after watching the Island. Apart from drawing any manner of machines, I love to play Halo to the point of obsession :) and my oldest son calls me a geeky vampire.
